AD LUMEN PRESS is not currently open for unsolicited submissions

Submission Period: Our open-call submission period runs each year from May 15th through August 15th. 

How to Send Us Your Work: Ad Lumen Press accepts submissions of previously unpublished, full-length literary novels and memoirs from emerging authors, who may or may not have previously published novel-length work. We do not accept postal mail or emailed submissions. Although the press does publish collections of poetry and short stories, we do not accept unsolicited submissions in these genres. Likewise, we do not accept story proposals or genre fiction. We do reserve the right to reject submissions, without reading and without notice, that do not follow these guidelines.

Manuscript Formatting: Please submit your manuscripts in double-spaced 12-point type, preferably Times New Roman, Arial, Helvetica, or a similar typeface, and be between 60,000 and 120,000 words. Margins should be one-inch. Pages should be sequentially numbered. The author's name, address, phone number, and email address should be on the first page. In addition to the full manuscript, each submission must include an attached cover letter and a 2-3 page synopsis of your work.

Simultaneous Submissions: We accept simultaneous submissions. While we may be sorry to lose a piece we are hoping to work with, we also know that it is unreasonable to expect an author to give a press exclusive access with a response time of months. If your submission is accepted elsewhere, we will be sorry to lose the piece, but please notify us and congratulations! 

 Response Time: Please note that submissions are reviewed by students in American River College's Literary Publishing class, and as such the general reporting time can run from 3 to 8 months from the submission deadline (August 15th), though we generally aim for responses to be sent out by the winter holidays (December 20th). 

Submission Reading Fees: Ad Lumen Press does not charge any submission or reading fees.
